Meet the Speakers
Marian Dale
Director, OHSU CurePSP Center of Care
OHSU Parkinson Center
Dr. Dale specializes in parkinsonism and movement disorders, with a special focus on atypical parkinsonism and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Her research seeks to understand the causes of balance dysfunction in PSP and to use non-invasive neuromodulation techniques for symptom control in movement disorders.
Lee Neilson
Staff Neurologist, PVAMC
VA PADRECC
Dr. Neilson is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty training in movement disorders. His current research interests include biomarkers of Parkinson disease activity and whole interventions for disease modification.
Emily Leonard
TI Senior Clinical Research Assistant

Emily Leonard is a TI Senior Clinical Research Assistant who joined the Parkinson Center team in 2021. In her role, she coordinates research activities for both observational and interventional studies across multiple patient populations. Emily enjoys working with patients to find the research opportunity that best fits their interests, so she welcomes patients and families to connect with her to learn more about research at OHSU.

I am 67 years old and have been dealing with Parkinson’s Disease since Sept. 2011. Born, raised, educated and living in NE Portland. I am married (46 years) and have two grown children with 3 Grandchildren. I was employed by Intel Corporation spanning 38 years starting in 1978 retiring in 2016. Since my diagnosis I have volunteered for about 25 studies: including various pharma therapies, imaging (PET, 7T MRI), Gait and Balance, rTMS, Wearables, Exercise impact, Gut Biome, Gastro Transit time, Laryngeal Dystonia and PT therapy ideas. I have represented PD patients for several Foundations and clinics including the Oregon Health and Science Univ., Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon, The Parkinson’s Foundation, the Brian Grant Foundation and former Intel Corporations President & CEO, the late Andy Groves’ Kinetics Foundation. Additionally, I just completed my 7th year of participating as a Patient voice for the DODs Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs for Parkinson’s Research.
