Carla Silva-Batista, PhD | OHSU Gait and Balance Lab

Carla da Silva Batista holds a PhD and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Sao Paulo in Movement Sciences with a background in exercise physiology and Parkinson Disease. Her graduate research focuses on improving clinical outcomes with exercise interventions.

Her long-term goals are to develop the skills and knowledge needed to investigate new rehabilitation strategies.

Ben Fallah, RN BSN | Mirabella Portland

Resident Care Manager. Ben received his BSN from OHSU School of Nursing where he specialized in Gerontological Nursing and the care needs of older adults.

Garvin Reiter, JD CELA | Nay and Freidenberg, LLC

Partner. Garvin earned is JD from the Lewis & Clark School of Law and has previously served as a Board Member for the Parkinson's Resources of Oregon.

He has been recognized by the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) as a Certified Elder Law Attorney and has extensive knowledge of all options available to elders, including how to pay for long-term care.

Ethan Frechette, LPN MPH(C) BS OHSU Parkinson Center

Resource Nurse. Ethan has worked as a licensed practical nurse for seven years and has recently earned a master's in public health from Grand Canyon university. He has experience in Oncology, Emergency Care, Hospice/ Palliative Medicine, and Movement Disorders.

Outside of Medicine, Ethan is a tenacious reader, multi-media artist, and writer. He is passionate about serving others and telling stories that speak to human compassion.

Jeni Bednarek, RN BSN ACRP-CP OHSU Parkinson Center

RN Coordinator and Associate Director of Education. Jeni is a native Oregonian with a diverse nursing background that includes emergency, public health, maternal child health, primary care, clinical research, pain management, and movement disorders.

Before becoming a nurse she managed graduate programs as well as grants and contracts for the OHSU Biochemistry and Cancer Biology programs.

In her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, playing music, and doing anything creative or crafty. 

Lisa Mann, RN BSN MA OHSU Parkinson Center

RN Coordinator. Lisa earned her nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2003 after teaching working in business administration.

As Team Care Coordinator, Lisa provides support to patients and families, facilitating interdisciplinary care in the clinic and implementing community education and outreach programs for patients, families and health care professionals. 

 

Rachel Rushing, LCSW OHSU Parkinson Center

Social Worker. Rachel has been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker for approx. 20 years, primarily focused on the older adult population—adjustment to disease, caregiver burnout, Medicare/Medicaid and social security/disability challenges, long term care, and hospice and end of life.  She strives to ensure that patients and their families have the tools and resources needed to be as successful as possible, even amongst health challenges. 

 

Peggy Rost, CSWA MPA | Parkinson's Resources of Oregon

Social Worker. Peggy has been working in the fields of healthcare and human services for over a decade. She is experienced in counseling and case management in a variety of settings, including community-based mental health treatment and clinical care settings. Peggy is especially interested in empowering individuals to identify their values and overcome barriers to support their quality of life.
