Parkinson's Disease patients, families, and friends are invited to join the OHSU Parkinson Center for the virtual Spring Research Highlight on Thursday, April 11th from 1 - 2pm PT. Join us to learn more about two actively enrolling Parkinson's Disease study opportunities and connect directly with members of the research team!

For the studies presented during this session, newly diagnosed Parkinson's Disease is considered to be EITHER:

         A) Diagnosis within the past 3 years OR

         B) Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and not receiving anti-parkinsonian therapy

Lauren Talman joined the OHSU Parkinson Center and Movement Disorders Program in 2019. She completed Neurology residency at the University of Virginia and a Movement Disorders fellowship at Boston University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology and is the director of the HDSA Center of Excellence. Lauren is originally from Iowa City, IA. Together with her husband, she enjoys exploring the outdoor offerings of the Pacific Northwest and taking food-inspired trips near and far.

Speaker Bio
Dr. Brodsky joined the OHSU movement disorders faculty in 2002, and is currently an associate professor of neurology. He completed his medical degree, neurology residency and movement disorders fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Brodsky’s research interests focus on pre-clinical detection and neuroprotective interventions for Parkinson’s disease. He also directs annual courses on deep brain stimulation and the annual meeting of the Pacific Northwest Basal Ganglia Coterie, of which he is a co-founder. Dr. Brodsky oversees clinical trials in dystonia as well as fellowship training in botulinum toxin injection and DBS programming at OHSU. Dr. Brodsky has lectured on Parkinson’s disease around the world, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the field of movement disorders. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends hiking and skiing the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, OR playing music for them on his guitar.

Kelsey Payne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience & Psychology and works as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Program at OHSU. She helps recruitment for and manage research studies that aim to improve our understanding of and treatment of conditions like Parkinson's disease. Her job involves working with Clinician-Scientists and patients to ensure studies are conducted safely and effectively.
