Brian Park, MD, MPH | OHSU Family Medicine, Assistant Professor, OHSU RELATE Lab, Director - "Building Trust: Narrative Leadership for Interprofessional Nursing Teams"

Brian Park (he/him) is an Assistant Professor at the Oregon Health & Science University's (OHSU) Department of Family Medicine and OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. His clinical practice is the OHSU Richmond Clinic, a community health center in Southeast Portland. Brian serves as the founding director of the RELATE Lab, a team whose true north is to create a human-centered, equity-promoting healthcare system, and believes a renewed attention to relationships is necessary to get there.

In 2017, he co-founded RELATE Lab's Relational Leadership Institute (RLI), a 2-month leadership development program. RLI aims to support healthcare trainees/professionals to replace more hierarchical, transactional forms of leadership, with relationship-centered, transformational leadership models for systems change. The program has since expanded to the University of North Carolina, University of Utah, and several national health systems.

Sydney Ey, PhD | OHSU, Medical Director, Psychological Well-Being, OHSU Well-Being Team - "Healing and Recovery for Ourselves"

As a psychologist, over 20+ years I helped to develop and co-lead wellness programming for healthcare professionals and medical trainees, conducted research on help-seeking attitudes, perfectionism, the Imposter Phenomenon in medical trainees. I've developed an in-house wellness consult service for leaders and teams during the pandemic and post pandemic and have a particular focus on promoting healing, recovery, and rebuilding post pandemic.

Julie Johnson, RN, MS, CPN | Director of Nursing, Ambulatory, Non-Oncology - "We are Ambulatory Care Nurses"

Julie has been at OHSU since 1991 and working ambulatory in various nursing leadership roles except for a two-year period when she was a resource RN for DCH9N/S. Julie was the Pediatric Ambulatory Nurse Manager for 20 years before switching gears as Nurse Educator, Professional Practice Leader and now Director of Nursing, Ambulatory non-oncology since 2020. Julie volunteers at a non-profit cat adoption organization called Furry Friends No-Kill Cat Rescue of Vancouver, WA. In her spare time, Julie does lots of different crafts, travels, read, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. 

Michelle Barnhart, MS, RN, CNL | OHSU, Professional Practice Leader - "The power of nursing: Our unique contribution in advancing patient care!"

In 2018, Michelle took on the newly created centralized Professional Practice Leader role, which has grown significantly. She works to help nurses and nurse leaders better understand and apply professional practice to their everyday work. She also leads the Nursing Transition to Practice (TTP) program for all new nurses coming into or transferring within the organization.  

She is a native Oregonian and grew up playing soccer, loving the beach and mountains, and summer camping. 

Kayleigh Rogalski, PsyD | OHSU, Assistant Professor / Clinical Psychologist - "Dismantling Weight Bias"

Kayleigh Rogalski, PsyD is a clinical psychologist in the Comprehensive Pain Clinic at OHSU. Most of her work involves addressing the psychosocial factors that contribute to suffering, usually within the context of living with chronic pain and other chronic medical conditions. In addition to this work, she helps patients prepare for medical procedures, such as bariatric surgery and spinal cord stimulator implantation. Her doctoral dissertation explored the impacts of internalized weight stigma on bariatric surgery outcomes, which informs her nuanced approach to conducting bariatric surgery evaluations at OHSU. Last year (2023), she co-authored an invited article for the Journal of Integrated and Complementary Medicine titled "Weight bias and healthism: An integrative health perspective." She has led workshops on fatphobia for the mental health care line at the Cincinnati VA and for the integrated health team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which prompted lots of individual reflection, clinic culture changes, and policy improvements. She is excited to discuss this topic at the 2024 Ambulatory Nursing Cluster Conference. 

Dorian Scull, PA-C | OHSU Dept of Urology – Physician Associate, Instructor - “Transgender Health and Gender-Affirming Care – Beyond the Basics”

Dorian Scull (he/they) is a Physician Associate, who works for the OHSU Department of Urology and specializes in Transgender Health. With lived experience as a transgender person, Dorian is passionate about improving the health outcomes of their community through providing quality, culturally competent care. Dorian has been supporting the urology department’s gender-affirming genital surgery practice since 2019. In addition to this, they have lectured on the topic of Transgender Health, at a local, regional, and national level, since 2017. They were awarded OHSU’s PA of the year in 2023 for their hard work and dedication to serving their community.

Brooke Baldwin, DNP, RN | OHSU Dept of Urology – Physician Associate, Instructor - “Transgender Health and Gender-Affirming Care – Beyond the Basics”

Brooke Baldwin, DNP, RN, NE-BC serves as the vice VP and chief nursing executive (CNE) for OHSU healthcare & the associate dean, clinical affairs, OHSU school of nursing. She has been in the role since January 2021.  As the CNE, Brooke contributes to the development of strategic goals and provides a vision for all aspects of patient and quality of care, ensuring professional nursing standards are uniform and maintained across the system. She is responsible for nursing and patient care initiatives across the health system and oversight in all inpatient and outpatient care settings. She previously served in the roles of CNE for UC Irvine Health from 2021 to 2023, nursing director and associate chief nursing officer at Keck Hospital of USC from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, she worked at UCI Health from 2001 to 2015 in various roles that include staff nurse, nurse educator, and nurse manager. Brooke served as an appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence® Program from 2011 to 2021.

Alexander Mansour, MPH | OHSU, Relational Leadership Institute Director - "Building Trust: Narrative Leadership for Interprofessional Nursing Teams"

Alex has been the Director and Community Manager for the RELATE lab since September 2020. His past work is focused on public health issues, program evaluation, and US refugee policy. But his involvement with the Relational Leadership movement at OHSU and nationally over the past few years has been a highlight of his career. He loves so many aspects of the RELATE lab, but what keeps him motivated in the work is the idea that individuals and the connection between people are the fundamental units of change on which hope for better systems rest. The difference between people-centered and results-focused leadership is not just seen, it is felt. 

Thomas Forsyth | OHSU Police Lieutenant - "Workplace Violence and Crisis Communication"

Thomas is the Training Lieutenant for OHSU Police. In this capacity, he is responsible for conducting all education for members of the department and the greater institution. Lt. Forsyth’s 35-year law enforcement career has focused heavily on training and critical incident management. 

Patrick McCormick, MBA | OHSU, VP, Oncology Services - "Keeping cancer care in the community"

Patrick has been with OHSU for more than 19 years, having spent the last 11 years with the Knight Cancer Institute as a practice manager, direct and now as the vice president of the oncology service line.  He is responsible for the operations of the clinical cancer program and co-manages the Cancer Business Unit, which aligns cancer strategy and operations across OHSU Healthcare, School of Medicine and Research missions.  He serves as the co-manager of the OHSU Knight-Legacy Health Cancer Collaborative and is a board member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative.  Both collaboratives work to enhance delivery of cancer care in the community in the greater Portland metro area and Astoria. A native of Vancouver, Patrick calls Portland home, where he has spent the last 21 years with his wife and 2 children.

Bobbie Hildreth, MN, RN, CPN | OHSU Cognitive-Behavioral PPL - "Workplace Violence and Crisis Communication"

Bobbie has 13 years of nursing experience, including pediatric inpatient psychiatric and acute care nursing.  She has brought her passion and expertise on this patient population to her current role and has led the development of key safety initiatives to improve the care of patients in a behavioral health crisis being cared for across the care continuum.  These initiatives include implementing system-wide cognitive-behavioral stability assessments and safety interventions to decrease workplace violence. 

Reyna Lindert, BSN, PhD, RN, AMB-BC, CPN | OHSU Specialty Practice Leader - "The power of nursing: Our unique contribution in advancing patient care!"

Reyna was reclassified as a SPL in 2023.  Her focus has been on RN professional practice in primary care settings, developing procedures around care planning in primary care that incorporates patients’ and nurses’ perspectives on care.   

Erin Gallivan, RN, BSN | OHSU Advance Care Planning RN Coordinator - "Empowering Nurses to Partner in Advance Care Planning"

Erin has 12 years of ambulatory RN experience in Family Medicine Department. Helped to develop the first RN Care Management program in Family Medicine, to help high-risk patients better manage their chronic conditions and reduce over-utilization. Collaborated in the creation of Epic tools to facilitate RN Care Management, including patient utilization reports, Eric Risk Calculator score, and care plan development. Planned and facilitated clinic-based, free educational sessions for patients, to learn about advance care planning. Currently working as the Advance Care Planning RN Coordinator, part of a three-year, grant-funded research project, with goal to enhance advance care planning in primary care. Co-presenter at two national STFM conferences on topics including: Advance Care Planning and RN-led Transitions of Care programs.

Sara Bergeron, MN, RN, CCRN | OHSU Professional Practice Leader - "The power of nursing: Our unique contribution in advancing patient care!" 

I have been a Professional Practice Leader at OHSU since 2021 with the focus of my work being knowledge transfer of the unique contributions the nursing profession provides in advancing patient care. I am guided by and uphold ANA Scope & Standards and Code of Ethics to empower nurses to use their independent scope of decision-making to improve patient outcomes and wellbeing. 

Eriko Onishi, MD | Assistant Professor of Family Medicine - "Empowering Nurses to Partner in Advance Care Planning"

Eriko is an Assistant Professor with Family Medicine here at OHSU's School of Medicine.  Dr. Onishi was born and raised in Japan where she received her medical degree from Tsukuba School of Medicine. While in medical school, she completed her externship in Irvine, California, where she was first exposed to family medicine, which was not widely practiced or formally taught in Japan at the time. Finding it to be a uniquely challenging and interesting specialization, later returned to the States to complete her family medicine residency training at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. Prior to joining OHSU in 2011, Dr. Onishi practiced medicine in rural Indiana then settled in Columbus, Indiana, where she worked in private practice and provided primary care to many Japanese in the area. Dr. Onishi also practices hospice care and has been board certified in hospice and palliative medicine. Her professional interest includes the spectrum of family medicine, particularly palliative medicine and end of life care. She is actively involved in working to further the practice of family medicine in her native Japan and is excited to continue that work while at OHSU. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities with her family and loves to run with her dog. Dr. Blanke has a particular interest in End-of-life Care as well as Medical Aid in Dying (MAID)/Death with Dignity (DWD).

Laila Craveiro, DNP, MLA, BA, RN | OHSU Senior Director, Ambulatory Oncology - "The Centrality of Patients in Ambulatory Care"

Laila Craveiro is a doctor in nursing practice who works at OHSU as a clinical and operational healthcare leader. She is the senior director for ambulatory oncology, overseeing clinics and infusion units, as well as the supporting services for the main campus operations. She is responsible for day-to-day operations of 14 specialty and multi-disciplinary clinics and 300 staff. She is part of ONET – the OHSU Nursing Executive Team strategic council; co-chairs, as a dyad, five quality committees within the Knight Cancer Institute; and is proud to have a seat at the ANC. In her almost 30-year career as an oncology nurse in various levels of practice, her passion remains in the learning that emanates from patients' voices and their experiences.

Ashley Arehart, MSN, RN, CPN | OHSU Professional Practice Leader - "The power of nursing: Our unique contribution in advancing patient care!"

I have been a nurse for 17 years and in a Practice Leader role for the last 7 years.  In this role, I advance nursing professional practice across the organization through nursing practice improvement initiatives, professional practice integration into specialty population knowledge, nurse transition to practice, and formal and informal leader development.  I am skilled in translating nursing theory into practice and supporting nurses in owning their professional role in clinical practice. 

Brooke Lippincott, MBA | OHSU VP of Ambulatory Care and Access Services

Brooke has over 15 years of demonstrated success operationalizing patient care and access strategies across multiple healthcare systems, hospitals, and clinics supporting millions of patient visits annually. Her leadership delivers new revenues, cost savings, and increased quality and patient experience. Her special skill is developing trusted relationships with leaders and clinical and operations stakeholders. 

Rene Norton, DNP, MSN, RN, NPD-BS | Nurse Leader - Center for Professional Practice - "The power of nursing: Our unique contribution in advancing patient care!"

Rene Norton is a doctor in nursing practice and the Lead for Center for Professional Practice. In the past 15 years at OHSU she has learned about using a Professional Practice Model to advance generalist nursing across the patient continuum.  She has had the opportunity to influence the advancement of a culture of safety, advancing professional role clarity, and deepening her learning about the framing of the electronic health record as a vehicle for interdisciplinary knowledge transfer. At the foundation of these initiatives are the principles of professional practice, which is her joy and passion. 

Alena Guggenheim, ND | OHSU Assistant Professor - “Ableism in the Medical Setting: Impact on Provider and Patient Outcomes”

Alena Guggenheim is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, School of Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. Dr. Guggenheim specializes in the care of children and adults with chronic pain and fatigue. She enjoys working with patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and associated complex disorders. She likes to help patients navigate health care options and empowering them to make informed decisions. When not seeing patients, Dr. Guggenheim enjoys spending time in nature with her family and riding horses. 

Mair Marsiglio, PhD | OHSU Transgender Health Program - “Transgender Health and Gender-Affirming Care – Beyond the Basics”

Mair is a clinical psychologist and associate professor in Family Medicine and Psychiatry.  They have extensive clinical experience working with gender diverse people in addition to several publications.  They have contributed to several grant funded studies focused on improving clinical outcomes and experiences of gender diverse patients.  In addition, they have lived experience as someone who identifies as gender diverse. 

Renee Mackinnon, BSN-RN | Ambulatory Nursing Cluster Co-Chair – Pediatric and Adult Allergy & Immunology Specialty Clinics

This is my second year as ANC co-chair and Conference co-creator and I am so grateful to have this experience connecting our incredible ambulatory nurses with knowledge experts in different fields. I’ve been at OHSU for nearly 8 years, 5.5 as a heme-onc Research Nurse in the Knight, and the past 2.5 years in the DCH and OHSU Allergy and Immunology clinics.  I hang out with a lot of kids at work and I love goofing around with my amazing coworkers. In my free time I dance, climb, do acrobatics, and go on adventures with my wonderful wife.  One day we will have a cat and it will go on adventures with us.

Calla Maria Davis-Boozer, MSN | Ambulatory Nursing Cluster Co-Chair

Calla Maria loves working with her patients and colleagues at OHSU Richmond Family Medicine, where she has worked for over five years.  This is her second year as Ambulatory Nursing Cluster Co-Chair and her sixth year attending the Ambulatory Nursing Conference.  She is inspired by her nurse colleagues at OHSU and loves the opportunity to connect with other ambulatory care nurses during this yearly conference.  When not at work, Calla Maria can be found working on her MSN in Nursing Leadership, spending time with her many children, and traveling to warm and sunny destinations.
